Friends Feeding Friends is a program designed to decrease food insecurity, increase healthy food access, and reduce food waste for all residents of the Mascoma Valley Regional School District, which is comprised of the towns of Canaan, Dorchester, Enfield, Grafton, and Orange. The program launched in February 2016 and has grown exponentially.

Our program operates two food pantries, one in Canaan and one in Enfield, and is the primary source of food and personal hygiene items for the pantry located at Mascoma Valley Regional High School.

Shopper FAQ

  • Our pantries are open to anyone in need of a 3-day supply of groceries that lives in one of the five Mascoma River Valley Towns in New Hampshire: Canaan, Dorchester, Enfield, Grafton, and Orange.

  • Shoppers may visit once a week.

  • If you are a new pantry shopper, we ask simple questions that help us report required information to our partner agencies. Please come prepared to verbally let us know your name, the name of your head of household (if other than you), head of household date of birth, your relationship to head of household, and town, state of residence, and age for each member of the household.

  • If you are an existing pantry shopper, we may occasionally confirm a few details, but you will not have to answer all questions again.

  • All shoppers are to practice appropriate health precautions. If you are sick and need a food delivery and do not have a family member or friend who can pick up for you, please contact your town’s emergency services manager.

  • If you cannot come to the pantry during pantry hours because of your work schedule, please email info@friendsofmascoma.org or call 603-632-4542 to make arrangements.

Partners

We partner with many local organizations to bring nutritional opportunities into the district including the New Hampshire Food Bank, Willing Hands, USDA Tri-County CAP, Mascoma Valley Ecumenical Council, the Mascoma Valley first responders, Shaw’s, Dollar General, Lions Clubs, Elks Clubs, and more.

Item donations may be dropped off in bins at Canaan Hardware, Canaan Village Pizza, and Enfield House of Pizza or at the FOM office on Tuesdays 10 am-5 pm or Wednesdays 10 am-5 pm.

Volunteers

We welcome anyone and everyone through our doors to help in many ways: stocking pantry shelves, receiving deliveries, pantry cleaning, shopper assistance, fundraising, event planning, office work, etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please email info@friendsofmascoma.org or call the office at 603-632-4542 to find a good fit for your skills. You will be asked to read and sign a liability waiver before volunteering.
