Pantry and Volunteer Coordinator
The Friends of Mascoma Foundation seeks a part-time Pantry and Volunteer Coordinator to support its growing food access program, Friends Feeding Friends (FFF). FFF works with USDA, NH Food Bank, local groceries, farms, businesses, and charities to decrease food insecurity, increase nutrition, and reduce food waste among residents of the Mascoma Valley Regional School District (MVRSD) which comprises the towns of Enfield, Canaan, Grafton, Orange, and Dorchester, NH.
This position guarantees 15 hours of work per week and may require up to 20 hours during busy periods leading up to school vacations. The responsibilities of this role involve coordinating all operational aspects of and volunteers for the FFF Food Pantries located in Enfield, Canaan, and the Mascoma Valley Regional High school:
Prepare for and oversee weekly pantries ensuring enough shelf-stable goods, meat/protein, and fresh produce offerings as well as equitable distribution to shoppers.
o Place all orders and arrange pickup with USDA, NH Food Bank, and local farms. (Farm pickups are in the summer, only.)
o Arrange for and receive drop-offs from Willing Hands.
o Arrange for pickup and receive Fresh Rescue from partner grocers.
o Track the intake and use of all food on Excel spreadsheets.
o Update database of shopper information, visits, and poundage of food distributed to shoppers and schools.
o Prepare and arrange pickup or delivery of snack offerings for four MVRSD schools.
o Prepare and deliver pantry and backpack offerings for MVR High School.
o Manage food box programs for school vacations four times per year: Thanksgiving, December Break, February Break, and April Break.
o Ensure all USDA, NHFB, State, Federal and FFF regulations and laws regarding safe food handling, storage, sanitation, and non-discrimination are followed by staff and volunteers.
Recruit, train, and communicate with pantry volunteers, including creating a monthly volunteer sign up list and maintaining a volunteer database.
o Pantry & Volunteer Coordinator may need to fill in if no pantry volunteers are available.
Attend events on behalf of FOM and other tasks as needed.
Required Traits
An understanding of and respect for what it means to face food insecurity; an ability to maintain confidentiality and treat our shoppers, volunteers, and constituents with dignity and equality; diligence, flexibility, and a friendly disposition are crucial to this role.
Required Skills
· Microsoft Office 365 software: Outlook email, Excel19- spreadsheets
· Internet search engines, bookmarks, and password keepers
· Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
· Ability to safely lift 50 lbs.
Desired Skills (willing to train)
· Microsoft Office 365 software: Word, SharePoint, One Note
· Inventory control
· Power Jack Lift use
· Food Safety Certification
· Little Green Light CRM
This is an hourly paid position beginning at $19-$20/hour depending on experience, with a performance review and possible pay increases at 3 and 6 months during the first year and every year thereafter. There are no medical, dental, or retirement benefits offered, but the pantry is closed for The Pantry and Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Executive Director.
